NWA Powerrr #7
Location: GPB Studios in Atlanta, GA
“Hello wrestling fans, welcome to NWA Power! I’m David Marquez and tonight is quite possibly the biggest episode of Power so far. We will hold BOTH semi-final matches in the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship tournament. Also, Ricky Starks will defend the Television Championship against a surprise NWA legend. Beer Money will also be facing Santana and Ortiz of The Inner Circle! And, in the main event, we’ll see Christian Cage take on The Undertaker! But, in our first semi-finals match of the evening, we will see ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair attempt to overcome the imposing Jax Dane…and that match starts now!”
Match 1
NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship Tournament
Ric Flair v. Jax Dane
In our opening contest, the stakes were high as the legendary Nature Boy tried overcoming the massive brute Jax Dane. A quick burst of energy in the early going from Flair took Dane off guard, but it didn’t take long for the “War King” to ground Flair and proceed to mount him with blows, and keep him grounded with a rear chin lock. By the energy of the NWA faithfuls, Flair was able to escape the chin lock and make a comeback, although it was short lived as Dane stopped Flair’s momentum again, this time with a power bomb that echoed a sickening thud through GPB Studios. The atmosphere became uncomfortable towards the end of the match, as Dane was manhandling Flair to his ultimate demise when Dane connected with The 300 spear for the victory.
Winner: Jax Dane at 7:09
Dane lets out a war cry, ready for his opportunity at the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at Chase For The Gold! Dane will either face The Undertaker or Christian Cage - we will find out later this evening. But first, we head to the podium with the always talkative David Marquez.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for our Television Championship bout of the evening. Our champion, Ricky Starks, is currently in the ring. And next, Introducing the man who will have an opportunity at his championship, NWA legend…Tony Atlas!”
The fans go wild as Tony Atlas appears in GPB Studios!
“Dave, thank you very much sir. It is an honor and it is a privilege to get to stand here in the studios in Atlanta and have a chance against your fine champion, Ricky Starks. They say that I’m like a fine wine, and that I get better with age, and these guns don’t lie. I’ve traveled up and down these roads right outside this building many times and I’ve held NWA gold before. I’m ready to show the kid how it’s done. Let’s get to business, Dave.”
The fans cheer as Tony walks up the steps and enters the ring. Ricky Starks looks impressed that Atlas is in such good shape, but the confident smile of the champion is still in tact as he stretches, ready for battle.
Match 2
NWA Television Championship
Ricky Starks v. Tony Atlas
When the fans lined up to enter GPB Studios, they never expected to see wrestling legend Tony Atlas here for a chance at the NWA Television Championship. In the early going, Starks made it a mission to target the legs and knees of Atlas with various kicks, and even a dragonscrew. Starks continued working the legs and at one point it looked like he might make Atlas tap with a cloverleaf. However, Atlas was able to channel his strength and make a big comeback on Starks. At one point, Atlas was ready to set Starks up for his patented Bearhug, but Starks was able to go behind Atlas with a quick roll up for a HUGE victory!
Winner and STILL NWA Television Champion: Ricky Starks at 5:39
After the match, Starks and Atlas shook hands. Then, Atlas raised the hand of Ricky Starks in victory, proud of what the NWA Television Champion has been accomplishing. Starks rolled out of the ring and walked over to David Marquez for a post-match interview. Before Starks can speak, Trevor Murdoch emerges from the curtain to a pop from the crowd.
On the screen, we get a quick recap of last weeks events and the handshake between Starks and Murdoch. We then go back live, and find both men with Marquez. Starks wastes no time going to work on the stick.
“Trevor Murdoch, first of all, welcome to the NWA. Hell of a debut last week beating former World Champion Jeff Jarrett. I have to give it to you Trevor, THAT is how you make an impact. I’ve said it from day one that I’d be a fighting champion. And Trevor, you’ve made it clear that you want a shot at this and I like to believe our handshake last week solidified that deal with class, and dignity. So Trevor, if you want a shot at the champ, YOU GOT IT…AT CHASE FOR THE GOLD!”
The fans cheer as Murdoch smiles and nods his head. Right as Trevor is about to speak…
JEFF JARRETT runs out from behind the curtain and SMASHES HIS GUITAR over the head of Trevor Murdoch - PAYBACK for his loss last week! Ricky Starks throws his hands up and mouths “what the hell, man!” As Jarrett drops the broken shell of the guitar to the floor. Jarrett motions around his waist and points to Ricky Starks, pointing at him and demanding he get a shot at the Television Championship. Security escorts Jarrett to the back as we take a moment to get things cleaned up near the podium, and as Murdoch receives medical assistance.

“I’ve held this National Championship for several months now, and I don’t think I’ve had an opponent like I’ll have this weekend at Chase For The Gold. Samoa Joe is one mean dude, but you know what? It’s not like I haven’t dealt with that before. I’ve dealt with naysayers, and disrespectful punks like Samoa Joe. Make no mistake, this National Championship is NOT leaving my waist. I plan on holding this title for a very, VERY, long time!”
Suddenly, SAMOA JOE appears and begins beating the hell out of Crews! Joe lets out a primal scream as he unleashes a devastating beating to Crews, before finding comfort in his actions.
Joe looks down at his handiwork, pleased, before fleeing the scene as Crews writhes in pain.
Match 3
Zicky Dice v. Brian Myers
At the start of the bell, Zicky Dice quickly rolled out of the ring, demanding that he start the match on “his terms.” This brought heat on Zicky, while Myers stood inside the ring motioning for Dice to re-enter the ring. After about two minutes elapsed, Zicky charged back into the ring. Myers swung with a clothesline, taking Zicky down hard! Myers showed a renewed passion in this match knowing that the NWA is the perfect platform for him to show the world what he can do. His momentum came to an abrupt halt when Zicky raked Myers’ eyes, threw him into the corner, and started striking away. From this point, several more minutes elapsed that saw both men trading offense. The crowd was solely behind Myers the entire time.
The finish of the match came when it looked like Zicky Dice was starting to close in on Myers, until GPB Studios started ERUPTING…
IT’S DOLPH ZIGGLER! For the first time ever, Ziggler is live in GPB Studios! It seems that Dolph has taken issue with some of the things Zicky said about him last week. When Zicky notices Dolph standing outside of the ring, he looks like he’s seen a ghost! As Zicky is distracted, this opens the door for Myers to come from behind with a roll up….1….2…..3! Myers has done it!
Winner: Brian Myers at 8:27
The crowd roars for Myers picking up his first victory in the NWA, while Zicky starts crying and beating his fists on the mat. Ziggler smirks and waves goodbye to Zicky, before turning around and leaving. This segment fades to black with Myers celebrating, and Zicky on the mat screaming “DOOOOLLLLPHHHHHH!”

We come back live to GPB Studios to find David Marquez standing by.
“Ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time is…Mister Fuji!”
Fuji emerges from the curtain to a bit of a mixed reaction from the crowd, as they are not quite sure what Fuji’s agenda is in the NWA.
Fuji smiles and laughs only as he can, before he begins speaking.
“Hahaha, yes! Listen to me. I am here with a warning that this weekend…at the Chase For The Gold…in the battle royal for the Women’s Championship…not a single woman in that match will be ready for MY ASUKA! Hahahahaha…”
With a low and sinister chuckle, Fuji nods at Marquez before walking away from the podium.
“Wow, well there you have it folks. It seems as if ASUKA will be participating in the battle royal, and that there seems to be some kind of working relationship between her and Mr. Fuji! I can’t wait for Chase For The Gold, and if you haven’t yet, order it now! Let’s head to the ring for our next match.”
Match 4
Beer Money v. The Dawsons (Zane and Dave)
This is The Dawsons first contest in the GWA-era version of the NWA, and they certainly had their hands full against the men who will be facing The North for the NWA World Tag Team Titles. While Zane and Dave Dawson certainly tried their best to use their larger statures against Beer Money, it wasn’t enough to get the job done. The finish of the match came with a miscommunication between the Dawsons led to the legal man, Dave Dawson, eating a huge Last Call Superkick from Cowboy James Storm for the victory.
Winners: Beer Money at 9:02
We see the NWA Tag Team Champions, The North, backstage. Ethan Page leads off the segment.
“Wow Beer Money, congratulations! You beat a couple of fat truck drivers. You guys must really be Tag Team Championship material!”
“What a joke! I don’t think Storm and Roode understand the caliber of tag team that they’ll be facing at Chase For The Gold. We ARE tag team wrestling. We eat, sleep, and breathe tag team wrestling! We’ve held these belts for a long time, and there’s no end in sight!”
“That’s absolutely right Josh. This weekend, at Chase For The Gold, The North will reign supreme and we will continue our title run for YEARS to come.”
“Greetings, assclowns! You must be wondering why I’m not in that shithole city Atlanta right now for NWA Power. You all paid your money to see Chris Jericho and you got to see Zane and Dave, the Butter Brothers instead. Pathetic! You stupid people are just like Eli Drake and Matt Riddle. Two ignoramuses who are JEALOUS of me. They want to be me, they CRAVE the spotlight that only Chris Jericho can stand under. Rest assured that The Inner Circle will be in attendance at Chase For The Gold. Now quit wasting my time.”
Jericho smiles as he takes a sip of bubbly. We fade to our last match for the evening.
Match 5
NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship Tournament
Christian Cage v. The Undertaker
The moment has finally arrived…the last semi-finals match of the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship tournament. Both men received an amazing reaction from the NWA faithfuls in the studio, with the edge perhaps going to The Undertaker. Both men were laser focused entering this match, yet did not forsake their respect for each other as a handshake was the first move executed in this contest, much to the delight of the more traditional audience.
The match started with a traditional lock up, which the much larger Undertaker easily shoved Cage into the corner of the ring. Taker charged Cage from there, but Cage was able to move out of the way and start targeting the knees of Taker. This continued for some time, until Taker started firing back with lefts and rights using his unique style of striking to dizzy Cage.
For the next several minutes, both men continued trading offense as we saw signature moves being busted out by both men: Taker with the old school rope walk, Christian with the middle rope spinning elbow and then a Killswitch attempt from Christian! However, the attempt was mitigated by Taker’s resilience as he was able to counter it into a MASSIVE CHOKESLAM! Taker went for the cover, but was only able to get a near fall!
At this point in the contest, the NWA faithfuls were on their feet. The suspense was at an all time high as both men continued fighting for their chance to face Jax Dane at Chase For The Gold for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.
The conclusion of the match finally came when Christian was setting Taker up for a top rope dropkick, but out of nowhere, Taker caught Christian MID-AIR and on his shoulders! Christian knew he messed up when Taker hoisted him high into the air - THE LAST RIDE!!!! 1…2…3! And that was all she wrote!
Taker versus Dane at CHASE FOR THE GOLD!
Winner: The Undertaker at 18:21
“What an absolutely amazing match, and congratulations to The Undertaker! Folks, our main event for Chase For The Gold is set! In the finals, The Undertaker will take on Jax Dane for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship! I cannot wait to see these two behemoths clash in what is sure to be an epic battle THIS WEEKEND!

Before Marquez can utter his final words, the power in GPB Studios abruptly cuts off. That is the final thing we see before the conclusion of this week’s episode of Power.
