G1 Climax Block B
FRI. JULY 31. 2020
Live from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan
We get a VTR showcasing the history of the G1 Climax for the past 46 years. It then goes into Block B, giving a few highlights of all those participating in that block as well as a few words from them.
We then go ringside where Kimihiko Ozaki is in the ring.
He starts out by introducing Bullet Club first, accompanied by Gedo. The trio at the announce desk bring KENTA and Jay White's problems as of late, specifically how much Jay has been putting on KENTA and how KENTA has been "failing" in Jay's eyes.
LIJ are brought out next, captained by Shingo. The trio bring up Shingo having to vacate the NEVER Openweight Title and how he's challenged Jay for it, although no official word has been given by Harold Meij regarding it. They theorize he's waiting until after Destruction to make an official word on it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Special Tag Team Match
Los Ingobernables de Japon (Shingo Takagi and BUSHI) vs. Bullet Club (Jay White and KENTA with Gedo)
The focus on the match is really on Jay and KENTA arguing with BUSHI and Shingo getting their own licks in on both members of Bullet Club. The tides turn when the BC start their cheating tactics, but Jay and KENTA can't seem to the stop arguing.
The end comes when Gedo whacks BUSHI with the Kendo Stick while he's on the top rope and KENTA is distracting the ref. KENTA gets BUSHI up for a Go 2 Sleep, but he gets down and tags on Shingo. BUSHI sprays KENTA with the mist, leading into a Last of the Dragon for the win.
Winners: Los Ingobernables de Japon (Shingo Takagi and BUSHI) at 7:57
After the match, Jay and Gedo confront KENTA once more, arguing over what just happened. Shingo pops in and grabs Jay's NEVER Openweight Title from him. Shingo poses with it and lays out the challenge. Instead of confronting this, Jay heads out. Shingo throws him the title back. KENTA is slow to follow after his teammates.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Once LIJ have left the arena, Kimihiko introduces the remainder of Bullet Club, accompanied by Jado. The trio bring up GoD's match at Destruction in Kobe for the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles, as well as how Taiji and Yujiro have called their shots for the IWGP Junior Tag Team Titles.
Chaos' Japan is then introduced, captained by Tanahashi. Kevin, Chris, and Gino talk about Kota and Hiroshi's recent problems and how it seems like everyone is on Hiroshi's side despite him making the mistakes (Gino really gets emotional about that). They stop talking about it as soon as Rocky gets to ringside.
Special 8-Man Tag Team Match
Chaos' Japan (Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tomohiro Ishii, and Roppongi 3K with Rocky Romero) vs. Bullet Club (Guerrillas of Destiny, Taiji Ishimori, and Yujiro Takahashi with Jado)
Another standard clustermess tag match, especially with Bullet Club involved. Each team gets their offense in with all 8 guys getting some showcase.
The end comes when two members of the Organization run out through the crowd. They attack Hiroshi and Ishii, making sure to keep them on the outside. In the ring, Tama hits a Gun Stun to Rocky, who slinked into the ring on his own volition. Roa goes for a Spear to Yoh, but meets a Superkick mid-move. Roppongi 3K get Roa out of the ring but Sho falls to another Gun Stun. Yujiro and Taiji pop in to beat on Yoh. Miami Shine followed by a Bloody Cross to Yoh gets them the win.
Winners: Bullet Club (Guerrillas of Destiny, Taiji Ishimori, and Yujiro Takahashi with Jado) at 8:23
After the match, Yujiro and Taiji once again do the finger guns to Roppongi 3K, calling their shot once again. The Organization members slink back through the crowd leaving Chaos' Japan frustrated, and once again, not an Ibushi in sight.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
After Chaos' Japan heads to the back, Kimihiko introduces the next team, captained by Curt Hennig. The trio at the announce desk talk about Hennig's matches at Destruction against Pete Dunne and Jay White for the IWGP United States Heavyweight and NEVER Openweight Titles respectively. They also bring up the Good Brothers and EVIL/Sanada's match as well as PAC netting a pinfall over Takahashi.
LIJ are introduced next, albeit individually. Naito's tied lead in the G1 Climax in Block A is brought up as well his teammates individual battles of recent.
Special 8-Man Tag Team Match
Los Ingobernables de Japon (Tetsuya Naito, Hiromu Takahashi, EVIL, and Sanada) vs. Curt Hennig, PAC, and The Good Brothers
The match is a slower pace than we've seen as of late. All eight men seem hesitant to get things going at the start, but once they do, they match up with their rivals just to keep things even. When another rival tags in, the other does the same. It's an interesting thing to note because the rival in question (say PAC) won't attack the person in the ring until their own rival tags in (Hiromu). Of course this does break town after a bit.
The end comes when three members of the Organization hit ringside. They attack whomever they can find with the exception of Hiromu and PAC, who are in the ring. PAC accidentally nicks the ref on an errant dive. During this, Liger, Tiger, and Santos come out to keep the Organization back and away. The third member--the pipe-wielding one--gets in and whacks Hiromu in the face with it. Santos gets him out of the ring before Team Liger sends them all packing. This is enough for PAC to hit a Tombstone and Black Arrow to seal the win.
Winners: Curt Hennig, PAC, and The Good Brothers at 8:46
After the match, PAC once again lays down the challenge to Takahashi, although he isn't able to get his hands on the actual title. Instead of answering, LIJ just head to the back, blatantly ignoring PAC who is screaming for Hiromu to come back.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
We then start the intermission and ring sanitization. During this, we go over the card for the next two nights.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
RVD is introduced first, with his victory over KENTA a week ago being mentioned.
When Cedric comes out, his victory over Zack Sabre Jr. a week ago is also brought up.
G1 Climax Block B
Cedric Alexander vs. Rob Van Dam
It's a nice match that allows both men to showcase their athleticism as well as their kicking ability. Both men manage to get some good, sharp kicks on the other as well as do a nice series of reversals every so often.
The end comes when Cedric goes for a Lumbar Check, but RVD ducks out of it. Zack Sabre Jr. then runs into the ring and whacks RVD with a chair. Red Shoes is a bit hesitant at first but soon calls for the bell.
Winner: Rob Van Dam at 11:23 by disqualifcation
After the match, Zack whacks Cedric with the chair as well. He then grabs a mic.
Zack Sabre Jr.: Jolly good show mates, but alas, it has nothing on me. Rob, nothing personal chap, but as far as I'm concerned, you just got in the way. Cedric old boy, what do you say to one more go around? I'm thinking we meet up at Destruction. And just to make sure there's a solid...and clear winner, we make it 2 Out of 3 Falls.
Zack then gets up and grabs the chair, just to whack RVD and Cedric in the back with it. He sits back down in it before continuing.
Zack Sabre Jr.: We'll meet again in the G1 Climax, both of you. However, I can guarantee that you both...will just...tap...out.
He then tosses the mic before getting both men out of the ring. Young lions help the two who just competed to the back as Zack stands in the ring, a smile on his face.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Kimihiko quickly introduces Zack, still in the ring from the previous segment. His lost to Pete Dunne last week ins mentioned.
Dragon Lee is introduced next, during which his loss to Cedric in the G1 is mentioned.
G1 Climax Block B
Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Dragon Lee
The two of them manage to get a good exchange of holds and grapples, but it's quite obvious that Zack is able to get more in. Dragon surprises Zack a few times by getting out and netting a few near falls, but Zack still cinches his holds in tight.
The end comes when Dragon manages to get Zack up for a Desnucadora. Zack reverses it mid-move into a Triangle Choke. From there, Zack turns it into a Hurrah! Another Year. Dragon tries to hold on but eventually is forced to tap.
Winner: Zack Sabre Jr. at 12:48
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Kimihiko introduces David first, during which his lost to Brock Lesnar last week is mentioned. The trio also brings up his valiant effort, though do make it clear that it was a lamb to the slaughter. Juice Robinson is also with him at ringside.
Pete is brought out next, and his match with Curt Hennig at Destruction is mentioned, as well as his victory over Zack Sabre Jr. last week.
G1 Climax Block B
Chaos' Japan's David Finlay with Juice Robinson vs. Pete Dunne
Pete is the better grappler here and make it clear from the offset. David tries his best to get out of a few holds, but still holds tight enough to get to the ropes. Eventually, Pete blasts him with a right fist and things break down from there. The match travels around ringside and it's there that David gets the advantage. From then it's a much more even bout.
The end comes when David reverses a Bitter End into a Prima Nocta. Pete remains standing, so David hits another Prima Nocta. David gets up and goes for a victory roll. However, Pete holds on and gets David to his feet. He goes for a half nelson suplex, but David lands on his feet. Superkick and a third Prima Nocta to Pete. David then school boys Pete, making sure to get the hold in tight which actually nets the win!
Winner: David Finlay at 14:05
After the match, David and Juice celebrate the win. Pete takes a few moments to recover and get his belt. He offers his hand to David, who accepts it. The two solemnly shake hands with David looking at the the IWGP United States Heavyweight belt. Pete nods and smirks before leaving.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
KENTA comes out first, accompanied by Gedo. His recent string of losses is brought up, including his loss earlier tonight after a Last of the Dragon by Shingo. KENTA is obviously barely holding it together, but is still raring to go.
Brock is introduced next and his dominance is mentioned, including the decisive win over David last week.
G1 Climax Block B
Brock Lesnar vs. Bullet Club's KENTA with Gedo
Despite KENTA being banged up, he still manages to fight back from what Brock gives him. German Suplexes, powerslams, powerbombs, whatever Brock dishes out, KENTA still kicks out of. It reaches a point where Brock switches gears and starts tearing about KENTA's arm. Brock starts holding the arm down in painful positions against the ropes, using the entire four count. Eventually, KENTA starts fighting back with roundhouses and forearms with the good arm.
In the end, it isn't enough to keep Brock down. KENTA gets Brock up for a Go 2 Sleep, but Brock hits a huge elbow to the side of the head which disorients him for a Kimura Lock. KENTA refuses to tap for a bit before Brock cranks the hold. KENTA taps out from there.
Winner: Brock Lesnar at 13:47
After the match, Gedo just leaves, not even looking back at his teammate still in the hold. It takes Red Shoes forcing Brock to separate. Brock doesn't like this, but pats Red Shoes on his cheek before leaving. KENTA is left alone in the ring. When he gets up, holding his arm close, the crowd actually give him a standing ovation. He does the bare minimum to acknowledge it, but it's clear he's surprised by this reaction. He heads to the back on his own to end the night.
