BREAKING NEWS: WCW Cancels Being the Elite? TV Deal to Be Announced at PPV? (Wednesday, October 14th, 2020)
Rumours have began to swirl recently that WCW had soured on their YouTube series "Being the Elite" which would explain why new episodes haven't been produced in quite some time. We here at PWInsider have recieved word that WCW has indeed canceled the YouTube series effective immediately with no plans to replace the content at this time.
When we reached out to WCW for comment, a source informed us that the same member of the production crew that tested positive for COVID-19 back in September which had initially shut down production, had once again tested postive, and this time was not the only member of the crew to do so. WCW has a strict bubble policy for all their employees in order to keep everyone safe, and this employee has repeatedly broken protocol which has resulted in the termination of both himself and other production staff. With more than half of the production crew for Being the Elite now reportedly no longer working with the company, a call was made to stop production on the show as opposed to hiring a new production crew. At this time, it is not known if this will impact the WCW status of any of WCW's The Elite members.
One of the reason's floating around for the decision not to continue with Being the Elite is the impending return of WCW Monday Nitro as seen on some of WCW most recent broadcasts, Road Wild, Fall Brawl and the last edition of Being the Elite. It's been said that with WCW gearing to announce the return of Monday Nitro as weekly live programming, the need to air a weekly YouTube series to build up PPV matches was no longer required.
As far as an official start date or television station for Nitro, we were unable to confirm any additional information, but it is being said that WCW may indeed be planning to announce the official return at their next event, which would be WCW's Halloween Havoc PPV on October 31st. This would lead some to believe that a mid-Novemeber, early December debut for WCW's long anticipated return to weekly television is likely.
More as this story develops.

BREAKING NEWS: WCW MONDAY NITRO CONFIRMED! WCW RETURNS! WW3? (Monday, November 2nd, 2020)
- It was announced during this Saturday's Halloween Havoc PPV that WCW Monday Nitro returns to TNT Network next Monday at 8pm! Details are scare at the moment, but from what we can confirm here at PWInsider, Nitro is schedueld to be a weekly 2-Hour network television show at will air from 8pm - 10pm each week on TNT for at least the next year. When asked by TNT to comment on the specifics of Monday Nitro's return, we were told the deal is for 1 year with options to pick up a second and third year if the Network chooses. WCW will then retiain negotiation rights to the product after year 3 and would be free to leave the network or negotiate a much larger financial package for the companies US broadcasting rights.
- It is being rumoured that WCW has major plans for the debut episode of Nitro next week, with at least 1 Championship match scheduled, it is also being rumoured that we may see the returns of two of WCW Main Event superstars who have been absent recently, as both Killer Kross and Jon Moxley are rumoured to be making their returns to the company during the broadcast as well.
- When asked about the status of CM Punk, we were told that WCW had no additional information on him at this time. Punk, WCW's 1st pick in the GWA Territory Wars Draft, had reportedly agreed to a return to wrestling before WCW used their pick on him, but both sides still remain quite a ways apart in terms of contract numbers. Punk, reportedly is asking to be the highest paid wrester in all of the GWA, while WCW who are willing to accomodate Punk financially, are seemingly balking at his requested price tag, needing to keep payroll managable as they also have additional expensive contracts of Seth Rollins, Jon Moxley, Daniel Bryan & The Revival among other notables talents on the roster and are only just beginning to see additional revenue with their TNT deal coming in to effect next week. There was a report flying around late last week that WCW had spoken with another company sometime in September about taking Punk's negotiation rights off their hands, but nothing had come of it as WCW's asking price was labled as "A Non-Starter". At this time, CM Punk is not expected to be on WCW television any time soon, if at all.
- With the calender now turning to November, and WCW looking to make a major splash during it's debut episode of Nitro, look for Eric Bischoff to announce WCW's next PPV as World War 3. At this time, there is no word on whether or not the World War 3 Battle Royal would be returning to the event as well, as WCW officials have been discussing the possibility of War Games matches instead since they had elected not to have any at the Fall Brawl PPV back in September.

BREAKING NEWS: CM PUNK RETURNS TO WRESTLING! NEW STABLE? WW3 CONFIRMED, PLANS? (Thursday, November 19th, 2020)
- As seen last week on the debut episode of WCW Monday Nitro, CM Punk made his long awaited return to professional wrestling in his hometown of Chicago, when he crashed the post match celebration of Dominik Dijakovic and Jim Cornette. Original plans called for CM Punk to get his hands on Cornette, but due to some well know real life "heat" between the two parties, Cornette refused to get physical in the segment. It's unknown at this time if the issues between Punk and Cornette will effect the current feud between both men, but WCW has been working diligently with both Punk and Cornette on trying to resolve these issues in a way that would not have to be "booked around". It's being rumoured that WCW plans to keep Daniel Bryan and possibly Drew Gulak involved in this feud just in case the company needs to pull shoot and remove Punk from the situation. As it stands currently, sources are saying that CM Punk is open to working with Cornette as he feels matches with Dijakovic and Jeff Cobb would elevate their stock, but it's Cornette who has been the difficult one to date.
- This week on WCW Monday Nitro, a new stable was seemingly formed when Nick Aldis refered to his alliance with Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae as The Superior. We here at PWinsider can confirm that this will be the new name for these superstars moving forward, though this alliance is not expected to be a long term arrangement as WCW wants to avoid having too many stables at the moment, with no plans to introduce a 3-Man Tag Team Championship any time soon.
- Marty Scurll has not been seen on WCW television since to WCW Champion Nick Aldis at Halloween Havoc. With Eric Bischoff's announcement that there would be no rematch, rumours are starting to swirl that Scurll may in fact be done with WCW already. Scurll, who was brought in to the company at the request of The Young Bucks, was specifically acquired to be a part of WCW's "Being The Elite" webseries, which was canceled back in October. There were plans to have The Elite start a feud with Nick Aldis and DIY, which would have culminated in a big 6-Man tag blow off match, but those plans have seemingly been canceled. With the way Nitro ended this week, Jon Moxley may be taking the place of Marty Scurll in the this proposed feud, but as it currently stands, Scurll's profile is still on WCW website as well as still being listed as a member of The Elite at this time.
- One superstar who did quietly exit WCW over the last few weeks, was "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Savage's expiring contract was dealt to WWF for a return that is not yet known at this time. When asked to comment on this, WCW officials simply stated that Randy's contract salary was too high for his current part-time status with the company.
- With the 60-Man WW3 Royal Rumble officially announced, there are rumours that WCW has already secured some major names from other promotions in the GWA territory, including the names of some former WCW superstars.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!
