Monday, November 9th, 2020
United Centre: Chicago, Illinois

We are live for the debut episode of WCW’s Monday Nitro on TNT! We quckly head to the announce table where we are welcomed by WCW’s broadcast team of Jim Ross, Mike Tenay and Tony Schiavone before heading to the ring, where WCW owner Eric Bischoff is standing, ready to start things off tonight.
Bischoff welcomes everyone to Monday Nitro, before briefly explaining the long road to get back here on TNT. Wanting to get right down to business, Bischoff announces that there will be 2 WCW Championship matches tonight as we will crown our first WCW Cruiserweight Champion momentarily in a Fatal 4-Way match featuring the winners of the 8-Man tag match at Halloween Havoc. He then informs the crowd that the new WCW Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks will make their first defense of the tag titles here tonight as well! Bischoff then takes a moment to address the conclusion of WCW Halloween Havoc and the events that followed the Main Event. Unfortunately, Nick Aldis beat Marty Scurll fair and square, meaning he is not granting Scurll a rematch and we now need to determine a new #1 Contender for Aldis’ World Championship at WCW next PPV World War 3. Bischoff tells everyone that he has some idea in mind, but is not going to make his decision until next week which draws some boos from an anxious crowd. Laughing off their reactions, Bischoff promises them that they have enough in store tonight, before thanking them for helping bring back WCW. He then exits the ring as Isaiah Scott’s music hits the arena speakers, meaning we are getting ring in to our first match of the evening.

Match #1: Fatal 4-Way Match
WCW Cruiserweight Championship
Isaiah “Swerve” Scott vs. Jay Lethal vs. Kip Sabian vs. Santos Escobar
Incredible match to get the crowd going early on in this debut broadcast of Nitro! These 4 men work very well together, showing that the Cruiserweight Division may have a successful home in WCW for years to come if booked properly. Sabian who is out alone tonight, plays the comedy heel role, constantly finding himself on the short end of most moves in this match as both Isaiah Scott and Santos Escobar really shine in a match that seems intended to showcase them both as two top stars in this division. The crowd is really behind Lethal in this one as the veteran looks to capture gold in a division he hasn’t wrestling in for years, and Lethal does look great cut down to 205lbs, but can’t quite hang with some of the younger superstars in this match. The end comes after Lethal nails a Lethal Injection on Isaiah Scott, only to be quickly grabbed by Santos Escobar, who hits Legado on him for the pinfall, becoming the first WCW Cruiserweight Champion!

Winner & NEW WCW CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION: Santos Escobar by pinfall @ 12:47.

We head backstage to see WCW Announcer Charly Caruso standing by with Daniel Bryan. Caruso asks Bryan about his mindset going in to tonight’s match with Dominik Dijakovic and whether or not he’s concerned that Jim Cornette and Jeff Cobb may be a factor tonight. Bryan tells reiterates to Charly that tonight is the night he puts an end to the issues between himself and Cornette. Bryan promises that no matter what Cornette throws at him, he will beat Dominik Dijakovic once more, and then as far as he is concerned, he’s done with them, and moving on to something else as Bryan makes his intentions to challenge for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship clear before thanking Charly for her time and walking out of frame.
Match #2: Tag Team Match
Allie & Io Shirai vs. The IIconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce)
In an exhibition match to showcase some of WCW’s lesser used women’s talents, the makeshift team of Allie and the always dangerous Io Shirai take on veteran tag team The IIconics, who make their WCW debut tonight. Allie plays the role of babyface in peril for most of this match, as she is not match for the experienced team of Billie and Peyton, who work her over for most of the match, until a miscommunication from The IIconics allows Allie to finally tag in Io Shirai. Io then proceeds to clean house on her opponents, as expected before putting Billie Kay away with the Over the Moon Moonsault, securing the victory for her team, and making herself look great in the process.
Winners: Allie & Io Shirai by pinfall @ 7:14.

We head backstage to see The Salvation together. Rollins does not look too happy, clearly still fuming over the team’s loss to Dustin Rhodes and the Motor City Machine Guns at Halloween Havoc. Rollins starts off his tirade by voicing his displeasure with Murphy being pinned by Rhodes. Murphy defends himself by deflecting his own failures on to Matt Cardona, as the two men are clearly still not too thrilled to be aligned together. Turning his attention to Austin Theory, Rollins asks him why he wasn’t out there to assist his brothers, but Theory explains he was preparing for his opportunity to become Cruiserweight Champion. This causes Rollins’ to scoff, chastising Theory for putting himself above his brotherhood and questioning his loyalty to The Salvation before dismissing Theory, telling him that he needs to rethink his position in The Salvation. Angered by the way Rollins has spoken to his partner, Murphy interjects, asking Rollins why has hasn’t questioned Matt Cardona’s loyalty, and even going so far as to state that The Salvation have been on a losing streak ever since Rollins recruited Cardona to the group. This angers Rollins even more, who slaps Murphy in the face for questioning the decisions of his Messiah! Rollins turns to Cardona and calmly asks him to explain to Murphy that he’s committed to The Salvation, to which Cardona replies he is, although he is not overly convincing in his response. This causes Murphy and Cardona to begin trading words again, but Rollins quickly puts himself in the middle of them both, silencing them before stating that if they can’t function together as brothers, it may be time to start thinking about a “Plan B”. Rollins then walks off, followed by an angered Buddy Murphy as we fade to commercial.

WCW PRESENTS: WORLD WAR 3
LIVE: SUNDAY NOVEMBER 28TH, 2020
LITTLE CAESARS ARENA: DETROIT MICHIGAN
Match #3: Singles Match
RUSH vs. The Miz
The broadcast team wonders if his loss to Hiroshi Tanahashi is still bothering him, based on the overly aggressive attitude Miz is showing in this match. RUSH, being an incredibly strong wrestler for his size does manage to get some offense in on The Miz, but it’s Miz who manages to make rather quick work of his opponent tonight, putting him away with The Skull Crushing Finale for the pinfall before the 5-minute mark of this match.
Winner: The Miz by pinfall @ 4:55.
After the match, The Miz demands a microphone from Justin Roberts at ringside. Miz states that he came to WCW for a change of scenery once he realized he wasn’t getting what he deserved elsewhere. At first, Miz thought things were going to be great here as he signed an expensive contract and made his debut on PPV against one of the greatest Technical wrestlers of all time in Hiroshi Tanahashi! Then, it took a single defeat to turn things around for him. Miz brings up his loss to Tanahashi as not the ideal way to start his WCW career, but states he expected management to continue putting him against the top talents in the company. Instead, he comes to work today to find out that not only is he not in the Main Event, but he’s going up against someone he’d never even heard of, before pointing out how quickly he was able to put him away. Frustrated, Miz explains his aspirations of becoming WCW World Heavyweight Champion, and demands better competition next week, before tossing the microphone to the mat and storming off.
We head backstage to see the often mentioned WCW Champion Nick Aldis. Aldis explains that due to an unforeseen circumstance, he was unable to be there in person to grace the debut episode of Monday Nitro with its World’s Champion, but promises he will be there next week and he’s preparing to defend his Championship next week as well. Aldis says he knows everyone is waiting for an answer as to what transpired at the end of Halloween Havoc, and promises that he’ll explain it all in person next week. Aldis tells Eric Bischoff that he has 1-week to hand pick Aldis’ opponent and asks him not to let the WCW fans down.

Match #4: Tag Team Match
WCW World Tag Team Championship
The Butcher & Blade (w/ The Bunny) vs. The Young Bucks ©
The Young bucks make their first defense of the Tag Team titles tonight against the team of The Butcher & Blade. Not much more than your standard tag match here as this match is clearly more to showcase the Bucks as the champions than it is to show any real threat of the team losing their titles. Matt and Nick take out Butcher with Stereo Superkicks before planting The Blade down with the Meltzer Driver for their first successful Championship defense.
Winners & STILL WCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: The Young Bucks by pinfall @ 10:22.
Following the match, Candice LeRae hops the barricade and takes out The Bunny on the outside, before both Gargano and Ciampa attack Butcher and Blade! The Bucks watch in confusion in the ring as DIY beat down their opponents post-match, before simply walking off to the back without so much as even looking in the direction of The Bucks in what JR calls “Veteran mind games”.
Speaking of veteran tag teams, we head to the back to see The Revival in their dressing room. Dash and Dawson are not happy that they lost in the semi-finals to MexiBlood, believing that they should be the WCW Tag Team Champions, giving The Young Bucks absolutely 0 credit for becoming champs. Annoyed at the thought of DIY now seemingly trying to cut to the front of the line for the next shot at the titles, Dash and Dawson both agree that a statement needs to be made to let everyone know that they aren’t ready to move to the back of the line just yet.

Main Event: Singles Match
Daniel Bryan vs. Dominik Dijakovic (w/ Jim Cornette & Jeff Cobb)
Daniel Bryan is out alone, while Dijakovic is accompanied by his manager Jim Cornette and the always dangerous Jeff Cobb. The match starts at slow with a feeling out process as although both men are familiar with each other, neither wants to make the mistake that would cost them this contest, especially Daniel Bryan who not only stated he was done with Dijakovic after this match, but a loss here would certainly effect his WCW Championship aspirations negatively as well. Bryan does use his speed to get an early advantage, but Dijakovic being no slouch himself doesn’t have too hard of a time keeping up with his opponent, and eventually catches Bryan with a boot to the chin, that stops his momentum completely. Dijakovic then spends the next several minute beating down on Daniel Bryan as the crowd boo’s, trying desperately to help pump up one of their favourites. A reversal of the Feast Your Eyes, allows Bryan give himself enough space to level Dijakovic with a Knee Plus, but Cornette is instantly up on the apron once the move connects so that Bryan can’t cover Dijakovic for the pin. While the referee deal with Cornette, Jeff Cobb slides in to the ring and steamrolls Bryan! Using Cornette as a distraction, Cobb goes to set Bryan up for the Tour of the Islands, but out comes Drew Gulak, charging down to the ring! Gulak runs in to the ring and up to the top rope, dropkicking Cobb before he can hit Bryan with his finisher, freeing Bryan from the move. Gulak then charges Cobb, and dropkicks him again, sending Cobb crashing over the top rope as the fans go crazy! Sliding to the outside, Gulak brings the fight to the much larger Jeff Cobb, but Cobb being slightly dazed from his tumble out of the ring, retreats to the back, followed closely by Drew Gulak in hot pursuit! Back in the ring, both men have slowly gotten to their feet, and are slowly bringing the fight back to each other, as each man is showing their exhaustion. Seeing another opening in the match, Bryan goes for another Knee Plus, but Dijakovic moves, causing Bryan to bump the referee, though Bryan was able to slow his momentum enough to just barely bump him, it is enough to put the referee down for a moment. In this moment, Dijakovic goes for the Feast Your Eyes, but Bryan rolls out of the move yet again and this time manages to get Dijakovic in to the LeBell Lock! Dijakovic taps, but the referee is still down, which allows Jim Cornette to slide in to the ring, and nail Bryan in the head with his tennis racket! This gives Dijakovic the opportunity he needs to finally nail Daniel Bryan with the Feast Your Eyes as the referee finally comes to, and cover him for the victory!
Winner: Dominik Dijakovic by pinfall @ 18:57
![https://i.ibb.co/1m7fNfk/DD-Wins.jpg](https://i.ibb.co/1m7fNfk/DD-Wins.jpg )
Dijakovic celebrates his major victory alongside his manager Jim Cornette, who demands a microphone from Justin Roberts the moment he finishes announcing Dijakovic as the match winner. Before Cornette can say a word though, Dijakovic rushes back over to Daniel Bryan and begins to beat him down further as the crowd boo’s. Once satisfied, Dijakovic send Bryan out of the ring before giving Cornette the opportunity to address a further agitated Chicago crowd.
Cornette not only declares Dijakovic the winner, but also a future WCW World Champion, going so far as to state that if Eric Bischoff doesn’t have him on his list of #1 Contenders to consider after this match, Cornette would need to question if Eric Bischoff is still right for the wrestling business. The crowd boo’s heavily as Cornette then begins to not only run down Daniel Bryan, but the Chicago crowd as well, going so far as to state that they always try to make everything about themselves, and refuses to let them hijack Dijakovic’s moment. Cornette calls the people of Chicago classless, he says nothing good has ever come out of Chicago, before stating even Michael Jordan realized he needed to come out of retirement a second time to go play for Washington to end his NBA career so he could escape the stain that is the state of Illinois! This somehow causes an already deafening Chicago crowd to boo even louder as Cornette who is now red in the face from screaming in to the mic, needs to yell even louder to get himself above the crowd’s boo’s! Sounding like he’s just about to lose his voice, Cornette turns his attention back to Dominik Dijakovic before stating he can and will destroy anyone who WCW puts in front of him.

A CULT OF PERSONALITY!
The roof almost literally blows off the arena here at the United Centre as Chicago’s own, CM Punk makes his way out to the ring, much to the surprise of everyone! Punk confidently enters the ring as the crowd continue to chant and cheer his name, while both Jim Cornette and Dominik Dijakovic look on in shock. Cornette, who has a very well documented past with Punk, slowly goes to leave the ring, ushering for Dijakovic to follow him up, but Dijakovic ignore him. As Cornette exits the ring, his eyes not shifting from CM Punk, Dijakovic charges towards him! Dijakovic goes for a big boot, but Punk ducks and spins and off balance Dijakovic around, planting him right down on the mat with a GTS!
With Cornette looking on in shock, Punk hurls insults in his direction while he celebrates in the ring with a very amped up crowd. As we approach our allotted time for the evening, JR and company thanks us for tuning in to this historic first WCW Monday Nitro and welcome us to tune in again next week!
